Selected Access database application projects developed for clients include:

· Grants and proposals database for keeping track of organizations applying for grants and their contacts; includes generating Word documents via mail merge from the database.

· Work-time database for recording employee work hours; includes calculation of accrued sick time, vacation time, and comp time.

· Event participant databases for keeping track of the myriad details associated with people attending an annual event put on by an organization and the services provided for them.

· Political contribution database for analyzing major donors and recipients of campaign contributions in Oregon

· Volunteer database for recording who volunteers and when for state-wide political campaigns.

General Technical Support, 2003 – present

· Astro Data Services (2003 – present) Provide a variety of technical services as needed to support the Gill Foundation’s Democracy Project, a nation-wide program to assist non-profit organizations through voter file list enhancement processing. Services provided include circuit riding, responding to all manner of technical questions from participating organizations, receiving data files in a variety of formats and standardizing into one common format, and data scrubbing/cleaning and de-duplicating.

Mainframe programmer and systems analyst, 1985 – 2005

· Kaiser Permanente (Nov 2003 – July 2005) Contract analyst/programmer for the Common Membership System. Responsible for program analysis, design and coding. Environment: IBM mainframe, DB2, COBOL II, TSO, Changeman.

(Dec 2001 – July 2002) Contract systems analyst for the Membership and Accounting Migration and Conversion project for Kaiser’s Northwest region. This project converted a 20-year old IDMS system to a new DB2 system. Responsible for analysis of old and new systems and creating program specifications. The new system was implemented successfully and on time. Also helped maintain Access database being used for project management. Environment: IBM mainframe, DB2, IDMS, COBOL II, TSO.

(1996 – 1998) Contract analyst/programmer responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting on the Claims and Referrals sub-system (QCARE). Also helped maintain Access database being used for project management. Environment: IBM mainframe, COBOL II, DB2, CICS, VSAM, TSO.

· Freightliner (1998 – 1999) Contract analyst/programmer responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting on the Parts Purchasing System for multi-national truck manufacturer. Environment: IBM mainframe, COBOL II, DB2, IMS, ROSCOE.

· Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) (Contractor, 1994 – 1996) Contract analyst/programmer responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting on the Membership, Disability and Accounting sub-systems for state government agency. Environment: IBM mainframe, COBOL, Microfocus COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM, TSO, PANVALET.

(Employee, 1987 – 1994) Lead systems analyst on a team responsible for the development of four separate but related sub-systems that were part of a 6-year project to automate most systems at PERS. Duties included system requirements definition, database design, preparing program specifications for other team members, coding, testing, and user training. Environment: IBM-mainframe, COBOL, Microfocus COBOL, DB2, CICS, IMS.
